How Sweet I Roam'd

about

"How Sweet I Roam'd" is a masterfully made interesting and fun song based on the poem of the same name by William Blake, in which the classic Russian atmosphere of the 80s and the funky rhythm evoke some nostalgic memories. Perfect vocals performed on a vocal synthesizer, with a very specific tessitura, funny instrumental - all this is a syntwave with a very original melody.

The song sounds like the famous Belgian band Telex, which was formed in 1978 by Marc Moulin, Dan Laxman and Michel Merce. They skillfully mixed elements of disco, punk and experimental electronic music, creating a unique sound. Like the famous Kraftwerk, Telex used exclusively electronic instruments to create their music.

And in general, this is a funny song with very good energy and rhythm!

(William Blake, (28 November 1757 — 12 August 1827) was an English poet and artist)

lyrics

How sweet I roam'd from field to field,
And tasted all the summer's pride
Til the prince of love beheld
Who in the sunny beams did glide!

He shew'd me lilies for my hair
And blushing roses for my brow;
He led me through his garden fair,
Where all his golden pleasures grow.

With sweet May dews my wings were wet,
And Phoebus fir'd my vocal rage
He caught me in his silken net,
And shut me in his golden cage.

He loves to sit and hear me sing,
Then, laughing, sports and plays with me;
Then stretches out my golden wing,
And mocks my loss of liberty.
